As promised by the mgmt, we had a team uniform and everyone is looking for the game to kick off. Our skipper has won the toss after a long long time, this gave extra confidence to the team to go on to the field. Our bowlers did a decent job in the initial overs to contain their openers not to score quickly. But due to some missed catches and missed fields Rangers had the upperhand at the 10 over mark. Right after the drinks, mirror sharne warne(guess who it is, none other than Googly SANKAR) took the control of the match for Hawkes and with his beautiful spin and googly's put a hault to the scoring. It was well supported by Piyush Yadav behind the wickets with real quick stumpings. Apart from all these there were 2 splendid catches(by Anil and Chai) on the field. It would be tough for me to judge which is better than the other. Finally with all the hassels from Hawkies, we had a stiff target;95 to chase.
With a positive intent Hawkes resumed thier batting with Kartik and PJ and things going cool for the openers. Suddenly there came a inswinging delivery from Rangers and PJ stumps were rattled and it was not positive sign for us and the following batsmans were going and coming back to the dugout. It was the final wicket which put us in some sort of comfort. It was AMAR, blasting their bowlers all over the park. Navpreet did hang with Amar to put 30+ runs for the final wicket.
- Shot of the Week: Amar pulled Paritosh out of the park.
- Ball of the Week: Yogesh bowled with a awesome googly from Sankar.
- Catch of the Week: Anil holding onto a miracolus catch in the deep with sun on his eyes
- Run Out of the WeeK: Navpreet direct shot from extra cover of the final ball in the innings.
Finally Player of the Week: SANKAR VENKATRAMAN for his outstanding effort with the ball.

Good One Pranai.I think the dropped catches cost us the game.Their Opening partnership was the final difference if we had Bijoy early things cud have been different (he had 2-3 lifers).In-fielders need to find a way to concentrate on each delivery because they have to have sharp reflexes and 1 sec delay is difference between out and good try.I think if anybody feels he is having problems concentrating just cheer before evryball no harm in cheering and gets ur focus back in the game.
ReplyDeleteCatches win matches guys. we can not defeat a platinum team with our current fielding effort.
ReplyDeleteAs kartik said, opener would have been out very cheaply. but we let him escape too many times and it cost us the game. If somebody drops a sitter, that demoralizes the bowler and the next ball goes out of the park by the same batsmen and it puts salt on the wound. what i meant to say is, put some effort guys. if we can put our A game on the field we can beat any team. coming next games our opponents are ranked lower than us. I hope will win both the matches.
@Kartik & Sreenath,
ReplyDeleteAgree on both of you, yes we didn't bring out top gear performance with a Good Platinum team. Hawkies please lift your fielding and catching standards. All know that every match is learning curve, but at some point we should be almost perfect in all departments to compete with any of the platinum team. Hope we rectify from our mistakes....
Looking forward for the rest of the 2 crucial league games with all Hawkies on top song...
NO EXCEPTIONS.............
